When a young, popular nurse is found dead in her home, the autopsy returns unclear results for the cause of death. Chief Jim Prescott, the new head of police in Chandler, Massachusetts, can't shake the feeling that Megan Gallagher's death was the result of foul play. After working with the county coroner and taking the investigation as far as his limited resources will allow, Chief Prescott reaches out for assistance with the case. When he learns that the FBI has a special program that helps small town law enforcement officers... ...he connects with Agent Craig Walker. Walker agrees to take on the nurse's case and brings in Detective Dave Munoz from a nearby town to work the case with him. The initial efforts of Walker, Munoz, and Prescott are mostly unproductive. Although the circumstances of Megan's death appear suspicious, there is no physical evidence that the nurse was murdered. One day as the trio is brainstorming over the facts of the case, Chief Prescott receives a call from the local coroner who has been in touch with the coroner serving another county. A woman has been found dead in her home. And while he did not identify the drug that led to the woman's death, the coroner in the new case reveals... ...there is evidence that the woman had been injected with something before she died. Walker and Munoz move the investigation to Kendall, Massachusetts and work with local detective, Brian Evanston. As they learn about the second victim and question members of her family, a third woman is attacked in her home. But this time the perpetrator leaves before completing the injection. The victim falls into a coma, but she remains alive. With the assistance of a retired FBI computer whiz and several cycles of interviews at the nursing home where the nurse worked and the hospital where the second victim had ties... ...Walker and Munoz identify a surprising suspect with an unlikely motive.

Newman The book grabs you from the start letting you know right off that Meagan Gallagher is going to die today. We get a whole description of Meagan’s day and Meagan’s determination to help an elderly patient. By end of the day she is dead, targeted by a “hooded” killer. Her death looks like natural causes but the coroner rule cause unknown. The local sheriff suspects a homicide but has no resources to do an investigation. When he is turned down by State Police, he contacts an FBI outreach program. He is provided “retired” Agent Walker who bring along Officer Munoz who accept his suspicions and decide to investigate the case.Walker and Munoz have little to go on but start getting a few clues after another “mysterious” death occurs. What follows is something along the lines of “Dateline” or “48 Hours” where Walker and Munoz use forensics and other clues to hone in on a suspect and then build a case. Though this book does not have a lot of action the story is incredibly intriguing and well written. We also get to see a new angle to what motivates a killer to do bad things and how they can do them devoid of emotion. This is the second book I have read by this author and I liked it a lot more than the first. His style is a lot different than other writers of crime fiction whereas he can provide a lot of detail without boring the reader. His prose are such that he doesn’t need action to hold the reader’s attention. I look forward to more stories from this talented writer.

By Glenda She wore a gray hoodie when she was acting out her plan...to murder... She had her first victim picked out and she knew exactly how she was going to get her to let her into her home... After that, she was experienced in handling the actual event. No problems! There is much emphasis placed on the death of Megan, the first victim. She worked to help take care of patients at Horizons Rehabilitation Center, and was well-liked by everyone. One patient had become especially close and when she learned that she may not be able to return to her home alone, Megan had considered having her move into her home... She had promised the patient that she would check with social services to find out what could be done. The patient knew she would not have made such a promise if she had planned on suicide, which had been the first assumption...Finding Megan, in fact, had come about by her supervisor going to Megan's home--it was so unlike her to not be at work that staff had begun to worry. She immediately called the police because the smell was so apparent--as a nurse she was familiar with the smell of death...I met Thomas Hall through his novel Hidden - Do check out my review if you haven't read. this book..Agent Craig Walker and Detective Dave Munoz, from Hidden, are carried over into this novel. These two, plus others, put forth a major effort to solve the murder, especially after another woman was killed, and then a third who almost died. When the latter was hurt, it was really the first break because they were definitely able to determine method of death.Hall has a talent for writing "in suspense..." By that I mean that his method of presentation automatically sets up suspense for readers. For instance, the villain is known only as "the woman in the gray hoodie..." The victims' names are identified and then immediately readers are told she was going to be murdered...that day...When Walker, Munoz, and other investigators are working, readers are privy to each and every concept as considered. But Hall also provides an extensive look into their frustration as they repeatedly go over every piece of paper, every clue, time after time. Amazingly, then, one will see something from a new perspective and that lead will be explored. You would think that type of activity would become tedious, not only for the investigators, but also the readers. It doesn't simply because we become so vested in solving the crimes and answering the same questions that Walker and others are asking. One reason for that is that Hall has created the surrounding lives of the victims in such a sympathetic way that readers "want" to see the murderer stopped!Walker is a strong leader and is worthy of having a series built around him so that we could learn more about his personal life. He definitely is extremely dedicated and capable, with sufficient experience so that how he thinks through the organization and methodology is astounding to his fellow characters. For us, we become more and more assured that he will fully close out this case by the end!As readers near the end of the book, the surprise ending will have taken off in such a way that it is impossible to divulge any more about the book. So let me just conclude with my thought that those of you who enjoy suspenseful police procedural novels, I think you will love this one. The characters are solid and readily accepted into the roles they play. However, it is the identification of clues in the way they are discovered that really stretch the imagination as to whether some of what happened could be done--and yet, it seemed so natural as it occurred... Then I read the final page and the author threw one final pitch to the readers that he knew all along we were...wondering...Superb paragraph! An ingenious plot that undoubtedly demanded significant research to support the actual chain of events. Kudos to the author for the inventive and unique ending to the story. Amazing! Highly recommended...GABixlerReviewsPaperback provided for Review

The author wrote characters that are so realistic that the reader feels like they know them. You will find that once you start reading, you're stuck. You won't want to put it down. From the start you are hooked when you know that Megan Gallagher is going to die today. She's a young girl that has a knack of taking elderly patients at Horizons Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and making them feel better about themselves. There was one particular patient, Mrs Andrews that Megan developed a close friendship with. According to the doctors, Mrs. Andrews had the beginning of Alzheimers. It was time for Mrs. Andrews to go home and Megan had decided she was going to ask Mrs. Andrews to go home with her to recooperate. So much for best laid plans. Mrs Andrews wasn't going home with Megan since Megan was murdered that night by a hooded unknown woman. It couldn't be determined if she died of natural causes or what she died of. Who killed Megan? Did she know her assailant? Megan was only in her twenties. Twenty year olds don't just die without a reason. The big question is WHY was she killed? The local sheriff doesn't have the resources to investigate and the State Police turned him down. His last hope was the FBI. They assigned a retired Agent named Walker to take on the case. The author gives the reader a look into what causes a killer to do the things he does and most are without any feelings about what they do. The reader will definitely not get bored. There are so many twists and turns that you are constantly trying to figure this murder mystery out. Don't miss out on this suspenseful murder mystery. It will definitely keep you in your chair.I received a complimentary copy of NOTHING AS IT SEEMS from the author Thomas Hall for my unbiased view of the book.

The slide continues By Amazon Customer I loved Season 1, made allowances for editorial oversights in Season 2, but Jack has moved into the genre of the superhuman seal cum spy novels that are everywhere nowadays. It did entertain me, but the obvious issues of continuity, poor editing and unbelievable coincidences are just too much to handle. I will probably not pay to read the next one. I loved the original Jack Noble when he was a different type of hero/villain. I can't take him as the savior of the world, nor can I get past the unbelievable scenarios, coincidences and abrupt, but jarring, plot twists. Slow down a little Mr. Ryan and put a little more thought into the works.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding Series By Cindy S. I love all the Jack Noble books. I was first introduced to Jack Noble and L.T. Ryan when I downloaded a free book ofSeason One. There are so many free books out there that I don't usually pay very much for any book, except this seriesgot me. I always read the reviews and since I thought Season One sounded great, I bought Noble Beginnings for .99 at the same time. That is all it took. I was back online downloading the other Jack Noble books. I just finished Season Three and have now started reading Never Go Home, another Jack Noble thriller. Ryan has a way of bringing all his characters to life..you're right there along side them. If you like thrillers, twist and turns, and non stop action. . then you've got to meet Jack. He's a killer no doubt. . but with a heart. He's loyal to his family and friends. But it's getting harder to know who your friends are is this business.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Ryan smashes it out of the park! By K. Collins I've read all of Ryan's books to date and they just keep getting better!! Season 3 is riveting! This is a great stand alone story, but I strongly encourage reading the previous books first to get to know the characters first. They are definitely worth knowing. If you are a fan of action you will not be disappointed in the least. On the other hand, if story line and believability are most important to you then you have to read this book. Nobody does it better! Jack Noble, Bear, Mandy and Clarissa feel like family to me now, and what a family!

By Harry A Pierce Fast 5 read of the last three books of the epic Kregen Series:Shadows over Kregen (Dray Prescot Book 50) (Kindle Edition)Sword/Sorcery/Higher? action adventure confronting the feared Snake-head Invaders of PazFast 5 adventure/action read. Written as an independent book out of cycle this is the farthest from his home in Valka that that Dray Prescot has adventured to the far side of Kregen and isles of the Schan diffs. An exuberant adventure with a slightly tempered bellicosity of Dray against the machinations of the Star Lords who both transport him under the sea and to the fish diff continents. With shivers of dread the reader follows him through a very passable mission there to free two people of importance to the Star Lords. The end is simply spectacular to those who have read the series. It should be noted that Bulmer hated slavery more than any writer of fiction and his work is a stark counterpoint to the John Norman Gor series.. Excellent adventure read. Highly recommended. Thanks, Harry!Murder on Kregen (Dray Prescot Book 51) (Kindle Edition) Emperor or Pawn of the Star Lords - still have to go after the bad guysFast 5 read, but suffers from being an entry to a story cycle and thus has a lot of story prep embedded in it. Whether you are an Emperor or pawn life is a process of the good, bad, and mundane. Story is very YA, but haw exciting elements with a lot of the supernatural thrills masked for later stories to unravel. Written for the German reader market and thus short in length and action driven. Highly recommended. Thanks, Harry!Turmoil on Kregen (Dray Prescot Book 52)Solely for Adventure and Gold the finding of the sinews of life's SurpriseFast 5 read delving into the affairs of Emperors to-be and the machinations of mankind. A bittersweet tale of the failings of pride and warrior and the falling into common patterns of life when a land is NO longer continually threatened. An enjoyable adventure read which leaves the reader to continue the tale/s. NOT the grand ending that was written for the series numerous times before, but a Skilly wending of a tale of future adventure left to those would trod the sward under Two Suns. Highly recommended. Thanks, Harry! Most often the last tale of a series is an awesome daring do that ensnarls the reader in heroic saga, but this was a crafty salute to the reader's and their imagination to continue the dynamic Kregen Universe. The author wafted the reins of the storyline to his readers as a feather released into the winds, let your imagination guide your quests and the spoils and tribulations of adventuring will be yours.Highly recommended cycle and series! Thanks, Harry!Dray Prescot and Alan Burt Akers and Kenneth Bulmer forever! H!

By Bufford 122 Once I started reading this book, I had a difficult time putting it down, The story flows very well and took me seamlessly into a zombie infested city and built suspense with each page as I began to identify with the characters who found themselves stranded in a wasteland of zombies and villains.
