Readers' Favorite"I very, very much enjoyed Primeval Origins: Light of Honor, Book 2. Author Brett Vonsik has done an absolutely amazing job in creating characters that readers will connect with and relate to, not always an easy feat in a work of fantasy." Readers' Favorite"As a reader, I always look for novels that keep me guessing what will happen next and this novel did that for me." Readers' Favorite "Primeval Origins: Light of Honor" by Brett VonsikPosted on January 8, 2016 by readerviewsBrettVonsikCelestial Fury Publishing (2015)ISBN 9780578172552Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader Views (12/15)As I finished the last page of this novel, my first thought was, "Oh wow!" While I would like to be able to express something more articulate and impressive, this was what came to me. Even though "Primeval Origins: Light of Honor" by Brett Vonsik is the second book in a series, it stood well on its own. Because it is so exceptionally written, I would like to go back and read the first book and perhaps get a few blanks filled in. I also look forward to the next novel in this series. This epic fantasy begins in the future, introducing scientists from that time and two characters from the far distant past. The two ancient characters are warriors that have special gifts. When the vessel they are being carried on is attacked, the crew and the scientists aboard find themselves depending on these two men to help save them. Being that the attack was unexpected, there is a great deal of damage. Questions will arise in the readers mind about who these two warriors really are. Those questions are answered as the writer takes us way back in time, and we can seethe journey these young men were sent on when they were captured, along with some friends and family members of one of the men. As they endure horrible living conditions and abuse at the hands of their captors, they also begin to discover their gifts. Going into the future, the gifts are greatly put to use to help save themselves and others who seek them.I totally enjoyed reading "Primeval Origins: Light of Honor" by Brett Vonsik. I was moved by the characters and the author's vivid details of the conditions in which they were living. The personal evolvement of the characters was impressive, and it was both horribly suspenseful and entertaining to watch them put these talents to use. I feel that this series is destined to be recognized as a classic.
From the Author Primeval Origins: Paths of Anguish and Light of Honor are the first two books in an epic saga that is much more than a single trilogy. Behind this first two books is a beyond epic storyline with a background spanning 65 million years and multiple civilizations that is filled with the challenges of moral choice and the battle against tyranny imposed by both godly and mortal adversaries. Rich in research and weaving into one grand story, humanity's ancient myths and legends, the Bible's Old and New Testament accounts, the teachings of the Qur'an, ancient alien theory, angelic lore, contemporary landscapes, conventional and forbidden archaeologies, and the latest scientific findings in paleontology, Primeval Origins sculpts a vivid world, both past and future, exploring the depth of what it is to be human and answering the questions asked across the earth...Who are we? Where do we come from? Why do we exist? The ancient story is an intricate foundation to the future story simultaneously being told in the prologues and epilogues of each book. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. We're just getting started.Brett Vonsik

Cuadro Primeval Origins: Light of Honor doesn't quite pick readers like me up where Brett Vonsik's first volume left off. Instead I am hooked in the middle of a chase, with all the different characters I know from the first book present but rearranged, and with gaps in my knowledge of time and place from where I last knew the story had been going. Despite this being very disconcerting, I find the protagonists in the middle of a dangerous event, one that may spell the end for the main characters I am just touching base with again. Needless to say the adrenaline is pumping this early in the tale, so I start flipping pages as quickly as I can to find out what will happen to the characters I know while trying to remember what state they were in since I saw them last. I make it to the end breathless, excited for what could happen to the characters in the third volume. And because I am still trying to get my bearings after what I read, I start reading the story again!Intrepid graduate student/archaeologist/paleontologist Nikki Rikks finds herself and her lead professor Dr. Shawn Anders swiftly sailing on a boat that technically doesn't exist; at least no government in the world admits to Wind Runner's existence. They are being chased by even deadlier U.N. craft whose existence is not public record either, all because of momentous finds during one of their digs. There is the weaponry considered technologically advanced even for modern times embedded in the bones of a newly discovered dinosaur species, and the two creatures in stasis found some distance from the ancient bones. One looks human enough: Rogaan, a half-Tellen teenager whose coming of age Nikki was able to view and witness while she herself was exposed to a stasis field in the chamber they found in the dig. The other is a humanoid from a race Nikki learned are called Evendiir, named Aren. Time lines mix for Nikki as she witnesses Rogaan's and Aren's meeting in the past while she relies on their improbable powers and weaponry in the present to protect the uncanny Wind Runner from its deadly hunters. At this point in the review, a potential reader of Brett Vonsik's second book might think it prudent to pick up the first volume, Primeval Origins: Paths of Anguish. Although this second novel seems like it is only a transitional story between the first volume and the the upcoming third one in the series, I say the author's writing style of piling one action- or tension-filled event after another renders the need for reading volume 1 first unnecessary. All readers, regardless of them having read the first volume or not, will feel like they are have been deposited onto a whirling tornado or the crest of a tsunami, and the best thing to do is ride it out to the very end. I find it to be a very exhilarating ride! There is a lot of physical action, fights, and explosions, and even the internal conflicts of each character lend to the story's fast pace. In the scenes Nikki witnesses in the past, Rogaan has left his uncertain stage of "Can I? Should I? Would I?" and begins to be more reactive, pushed to desperation by the deprivations and injustices his friends and family suffer. Nikki's first viewing of Aren in the scenes of the past shows him to be so paranoid that the shifts and jumps in his own mind are pretty action-packed already. In the present, both are practically super heroes: disoriented and confused super heroes, but awesome to behold even at half-power. This second volume is a page-turner, whether you know much about Rogaan and Nikki or not.The Who and the What is very shifty and fast-paced in Primeval Origins: Light of Honor. The Why however permeates throughout the action-filled tale - acknowledge the plight of the oppressed and downtrodden, then answer the call to defend them against the tyrannies that bury their voice. Whether readers decide to read the first book to get a background on the characters or like myself read Primeval Origins: Light of Honor again to take note of anything I missed during the first whirlwind ride, they will find a very satisfying tale and will anticipate the coming of the third installment of this action-packed series. Recommended.

By Amazon Customer Loved this book even more than the first - it was faster-paced, wrapped up a lot of story threads that were in the first novel that were nagging at me while leaving plenty of mystery for the next book, and was definitely a bit darker than the first in the series. Reminiscent of my favorite fantasy novels from the 90s and 2000s, reading Primeval Origins: Light of Honor brought me back to the joy of reading the first books in a series and being enthralled by a new world and perspective on storytelling when I thought I had read all there was to read in the fantasy world. Props to the new author - keep the Primeval Origins books coming as fast as possible!

Heylmun As the second book in the series, Light of Honor continues the gripping narrative begun in the first book with the same intense, descriptive style. The connections between the near future prologue and epilogue and the prehistoric main text of the first book become much more tangible, tying the two stories together into an exciting adventure I wasn't anticipating, despite enjoying the first book immensely. I can't wait to read the next one.
