5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Interesting Blend of Sci-Fi and Elements of the Bible. Shades of Dan Brown. By SoCal Reader I finished Sidererus Nuncius in one sitting. Howard's writing style is quick and crisp so it was a very quick read. I was immediately sucked in by the lead character, Quentin. A powerful alien is sent to Earth to learn why the planet is in trouble. He doubts the validity of his mission and to make matters worse, he begins to have visions of a destroyed world that may or may not be the very world he is investigating. Along the way, Quentin (against orders) becomes romantically involved with an Earth woman and emotionally attached to her son. Normally I would argue this would bog down a story like this, but I as things progressed, I see how essential those two are. If I have a complaint about the story, is that there was not enough of Rex Talion and the Degans.. All indications are that Talion is an Anti-Christ figure with designs of sending the world to destruction. What are his motivations for doing this? The Degans are demonic beings from the cosmos hiding in society and in line with Talion. Why have they chosen Earth as their main playground? How did Rex Talion and the Degans find each other?These are minor quibbles to be sure. I know this is a series so more will be revealed.Now back to the positives: The complex aspect of Quentin. This is one conflicted soul. He doubts the cause he fights for and the masters he serves. The love the way Howard mixes in the some of the most important stories of the bible (i.e. the Flood, Moses, Revelations, etc.) and puts science fiction twist on them. This is fresh and exciting and it gives us an alternative to the things we have been taught similar to the Di Vinci Code. Watch out Sunday schoolteachers!The stage is set for some amazing future events. Who is Rex Talion? Will the events of Armageddon continue to play out as hinted? Will Earth survive the great war? There's more to Quentin than meets the eye. What are his secrets?Overall Sidererus Nuncius is an enjoyable, fascinating read and I look forward to the next book. Mr. Howard, please do not disappoint me!

By Shannon Galbraith Sidereus Nuncius is a captivating sci-fi book packed with strong characters and unexpected twists. I love it for it's original variant and outer-worldly take on the scriptures of Revelations. I also feel it has deeper hidden messages when it comes to monsters and faith. This is surely a book anyone can enjoy!

In "Sidereus Nuncius" he draws the reader in with very likable characters Regina and Dante. He keeps your attention by adding layers to the story. What starts as a fairly light story turns into a twisted plot involving several characters and delving into the heart of the reader on many levels.The story has multiple elements including suspense, action, mild violence, a love story, and sci-fi/fantasy aspects as well. I found myself cheering for Regina as she begins a relationship with a mysterious character named Quentin. Quentin is a complex individual and a couple of his "sides" are revealed as you read your way through the book.Then there is Rex Talion....there is more to him than meets the eye. Howard teases the reader and leaves us wondering about Talion.This is a very enjoyable read. At times I found myself devouring the book, impatiently wanting to get to the next chapter. Howard's writing style is rich with description and provides wonderfully visual images for the reader. His words flow effortlessly, and he builds suspense, making the book a classic page-turner.This is the first in a four-part series and I anxiously await the next installment. If the second is as good as the first, which I suspect it will be, we will likely have the next super author!
