About the Author        With over 20 million books for sale, SFB is one hell of a writer.          Son of a diplomat, like many other cooler-than-you authors, he grew up in faraway lands. His talent for writing manifested at a tender age when he clearly spelled in snow the word "chese" despite, and against, a strong westerly wind. The need for an editor arose at the same time. Later he was kidnapped by a streak of tigers. Raised as one of their own, his meals were composed usually of those raised by packs of wolves. He regularly used Q-tips as toothpicks. (Now you understand his wild side and soft gums.)Unable to catch a break, he was next abducted by aliens. He spent some relative time on the other side of the galaxy, properly flattened, as a bookmark in one of them alien guides. Need is to mention that, confused sometimes with an unsealed letter, he was often licked. No need is to mention that he still enjoys a good licking every now and then. Later, he was elected to their parliament and raised the cost of living by 1%. He worked hard during this time to save the (⁽ؔ˙⁾⊝⁽ؔ˙⁾) or what you would call "space-chickens." Unfortunately, they were not endangered. Unhappy in love, he let his creative juices flow in another direction and invented the overpants. Which are like underpants but worn, well, over pants. It was a riot and made him rich, until someone looked down (or up) and realized that aliens don't need pants.          How he returned to Earth, got his seven Phds, three GEDs, and five GODs, is an entire different story and not at all important. (Now you understand his ┌∩┐(⁽ؔ˙⁾⊝⁽ؔ˙⁾)┌∩┐ ("I don't give a space-chicken!") attitude.)

By A Steven bouchard I started with book one, but believe this 5th book could be a stand alone book. However, I seriously suggest the potential reader start from book one. All of these books have been FANTASTIC!! There is so much excitement, realism, researched tactical maneuvers, researched "everything else", high writing skill, understanding of consistent character personalities (the reader will fall in love with the characters and scenarios), and it's always great the way the author starts a chapter with the given characters name.All of this author's books are page-turners! All of the books are about 400 pages and so reasonably priced! The author does NOT write a book and then cut it in parts and sell the "parts." This seems to be a "trend" with many other writers. This author is genuine in what she writes, the quality and quantity and first class style! As I do with all the books, I read I peruse all comments. I've noted that the negative reviewers seem to have a extreme liberal political agenda. (Go figure! - I google a lot). Anyway, I think it's safe to say the potential reader should take the negative comments with a grain of salt.This book, in particular, seems to be the author at her finest! Though I think I thought that at her every book. I'm a reader-aholic and this author has become my most favorite. The books also cross many genres. The manner in which she puts everything together astonishes me. I'm convinced she is completely genuine in writing good books for the purpose of writing good books and NOT to "make a buck! In fact, I don't understand why film makers haven't yet discovered her work! Frankly, I'd someday like to meet the author and get her autograph. Kind of silly coming from me but she's THAT GOOD!If the potential reader starts from the first book, the reader will be completely fascinated by the content of the first book and what happens in this fifth book! She knocked my socks off with some surprises! Keep writing, Ms. Morris, keep writing!! And, THANK YOU for your quality, fine research, quantity, excellence in mastering stories and including believable events!! I'd truly like to meet you someday and pick your brain to try and figure how you are able to write so well. Uh,.... for an autograph, too.I forgot to mention, one of the fake "reviewers" even mentioned Sarah Palin! None of these books deal with Sarah Palin, ANY current politicians and there isn't ANY "political" stuff in these books. I am of the opinion that their sole desire is to destroy the author's reputation. Hmm. Sounds like a libel suit could be on the horizon!!

Lovely story but it just ends with no resolution By Amazon Customer The book picks up right from where the last one ended with no rehash so it took a few moments to pick up the threads of the story. But the biggest disappointment was after slowly and thoughtfully building the story it just stops. No threads are completed and new ones have just ben added and the story just stopsSimon and Sam; Cory and Paige; Reagan and John; the townspeople split; Roberts arrival; the radio message - not one story line is wrapped up. I love series as much as the next person but an author doesn't get a free pass on actually finishing the book. I thought I paid for a complete story.

Best of all for my reading pleasure there are no deaths that donot carry the story. Not the=at they are not heart breaking just the deaths that happen are not just so the story can be bloody like many of these type books do. The only complaint I have is I work at Vanderbilt Hospital and the entire complex is connected by underground tunnels. I'd have like to have read the characters adventures exploring the bowels of the hospitals separate building to the research center and the university. And a note that the trauma unit is on 11 north or to the right facing the building and there is a garage attached by an over the road walkway to the fourth floor. Surgery is on 2. Otherwise Nashville General is spot on.A great read. And if you are new start with one and read your way forward. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I absolutely love the parts in all these books where Thomas and Burns can't keep their hands off each other (among other things), and when their hands aren't on each other, their thoughts are with each other. Ms. O'Quinn ties everything together so very nicely, with stellar use of language like a paintbrush on canvas. I found myself fighting a Scottish burr in my voice for hours after finishing this series :)

By Greebo Every once in awhile, a book/series comes along, and the characters work their way into your head and your heart, and they grab hold and refuse to let go. Thomas Fitzgerald and Burns (just Burns, although Thomas refers to him has "His Bobbie Burns") are two of those characters. I honestly can't tell you now much I love these men, especially Thomas. Ms. O'Quinn made them perfect...absolutely perfect. I wish I could tell you exactly how much they have touched me. They take my breath away. Their powerful love for one another is so palpable and so...beautiful. I'm sure there are a lot of other words that can describe it, but I'm at a loss.I don't want to give you any spoilers. "Red, Red Rose", and the previous novellas in the "Burns-Fitzgerald Mysteries" series are to be savored...slowly...so you can absorb every nuance. They're pure poetry, but they're also exciting, and oh, so sexy. Gay romance is my genre of choice, but I like my men to be of a certain type. I want them to be strong, smart, and masculine. I want them to love deeply even as they crash together, tongues and teeth gnashing, an erotic wrestling match of sorts, and I want to hear them whisper filthy, yet tender, words to each other. Thomas and Burns give me everything I want and much, much more.All three books tell the tale of our men meeting, falling in love, learning about each other, and even solving a mystery or two. It may feel like everything happened quickly, and in a sense it did, but it wasn't a breakneck speed, and it felt very natural. Sometimes, you know you've met THE ONE, and they certainly are each other's ONE. Watching them fall for each other, long for each other, and then finally just BE together was a joy. Yes, there was angst and some obstacles, but it's a given that they belong together. They know this, and they make it work.Please, please, please read this series. It will move you, I guarantee it. Thomas and Burns are men who will touch your soul. I should add a plea to Erin O'Quinn...give us a sequel or two. The world needs more of these men.

A Story Immortal By The Gnome So... a couple of years ago the Gnome entered a magical world... a place with a thousand year history of war and love... a place rich in majesty sometimes winnowed by misery... a Land as strong as Steel yet sometimes ruled by Silk... Were Evil Sought Dominance but heros were trying to hold it back ... a place were a Red Comet had appeared and a final battle was foretold to take place. A Battle Immortal in the Land of Erhde... the final book in Ms. Azingers wonderful Silk And Steel saga is here at last and it does not disappoint. One thing I have enjoyed about her books is the Villians... they are real people... this is not a series with an omnipotent evil that the protagonists simply follow a train of continously epic events to a preordained "impossible win" ... the villians are confident, yet they have lost before, so they question... when they win it is because they plan... they think they scheme and they sometimes fail and keep going anyway... all the "admirable" qualities we want in our heros are also in them... they even sometimes do a good deed (even if not for the best of reasons)The Heros to, are flawed... they also PLAN and FAIL and they also get back up and keep going... and sometimes they choose badly based on fear or anger or greed or even love... this book shows all this and more... it shows true people in fantastic situations... The writer has taken us here to Erdhe by reminding us of us... Azinger has woven a tale of Majestic Epic Fantastic... Humanity... and I am glad to have experienced it... Other reviewers will let you know some of the characters (of wich there are many some strong as steel some rusted yet with hidden means) and the various plot threads (again alot all well woven together like the finest of silk) the places you will go (all realized to perfection) but Azingers biggest accomplishment in my mind is bringing us back to being us... emotionally engaged and wonderfully enthralled... a Must read...

Today, I am only half way through Battle Immortal, I want to savor it. Battle Immortal, book seven in the Silk & Steel Saga, was released October ninth. I was attending a Renaissance Faire for the day, and Battle Immortal was going to be my date, for the later that evening. This was the night !!! When I arrived home, I showered the Faire dust off, warmed up chocolate molten cake, grabbed milk and disappeared from the world. The Faire had me in the mood, to read until I was blind, and it was hard to put this book down. Queen Liandra is one of my favorite personalities, in this book. Liandra is a strong, intelligent, beautiful ruler, with a huge heart. Liandra, (aka as the Spider Queen) treats all people with respect and concern. Everyone thrives under this her rule, people are not allowed to go without. She risks much, and gives up much, for her people, and it's a nice twist to see a Queen like this. There are so many strong charactors in this series, and they come to life in an easy and vivid way, thanks to Karen Azingers wonderful imagination. No matter, who you chose to love, good or bad, you will find your person. I am writing this review to let readers know how great the story is so far. I don't give out a lot of details, as the book is so new, and do not want to spoil the experience for others.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A fantasy well worth reading By Syren Song The Battle Immortal is the culmination a 7-novel story arc called The Silk and Steel Saga. Karen Azinger, the author, has created a fascinating world of sword and sorcery with intriguing characters and plots. There are twists and turns, with the unexpected lying in wait to ambush the reader at almost every turn. The story was fresh and well-written, with old themes explored from new and different directions.The characters were wonderfully believable, staying true to themselves, and often making surprising choices, placing themselves in unusual and difficult situations. Heroes and villains alike were intriguing and *real*, making mistakes and questioning their own decisions. Even the lesser characters had depth to their thoughts and feelings.If you love fantasy, then I highly recommend this series to you. The Battle Immortal brings the saga to an exciting climax, weaving together all the adventures that have drawn the reader in throughout the previous books. The writing pulled me in and refused to let go right to the very end. I know this is the last book in the series, but I truly hope there are more stories to come from the land of Erdhe.

The action is dramatic and the insights into Pace's character are quite interesting.

We are introduced to characters that are smart and dedicated and not afraid to dream, but must overcome obstacles including government agencies and shadowy characters. This book is an insanely quick read as there is no fat in at all. You will be ordering the next book when you reach the end of this one.

He turns his talent to fiction, but it has a lot of great airgun content. In fifteen short stories, he narrates stories of how a specific person became involved. Each one is both interesting for its historic descriptions, and also for the human interest. I can certainly relate to the experiences, and enjoyed the entire book. There are some nice antique images, and Tom can really tell a story!

Lee Harding can’t find happiness in the harsh east coast winters. A trip to her hometown of San Francisco is meant to lift her spirits. She stays with her sister Alice’s home at the Twenty Alder compound, a tiny courtyard with five separate apartments. The residents are scurrying to prepare for their landlord Martha’s birthday celebration. The courtyard is lit with strings of lights, the bar is ready and lanterns are being hung on the enormous oak trees. When Lee is in New Jersey, she does nothing but dream of moving back to San Francisco, but this trip is proving that you cannot go home again. There seems to be new buildings everywhere, and the funky city of her past is getting harder and harder to find. Bohemian Landlord Martha Byrne represents all that is loved about old San Francisco. When she is murdered in her apartment after her party, Lee is determined to figure out which of the tenants is responsible. The detective on the case is a started and pressed cop named Erik Healy. Lee’s position as a guest in the compound gives her unfettered access to the politics that go on between the tenants at Twenty Alder Street. She shares her concerns with the detective and soon the two have formed a friendship that has a little too much heat. Lee is reading Hemingway’s, A Moveable Feast and decides that the author died full of regret. She keeps this in mind as she toys with the idea of something further with Erik Healy. The Harding sisters distract themselves from the grim mood at the apartment house by touring their old haunts. The scars from their tragic childhood have left them with painful wounds, and they find lighthearted relief in weed and alcohol. It seems just about everyone in the complex has a motive for wanting Martha dead, but no one more than the hot headed Miles Alcazar. Just when Lee is sure the man is responsible, he turns up dead. Someone is taking out the residents one by one and she fears her sister Alice could be next. Death on Alder is a love letter to San Francisco, sisterhood and the myth of home.

Usually, I don't care for murder mysteries because I always figure out the who dunnit part half way into the book. Death on Alder kept me guessing right up until the big reveal. Best of all, Everett broke a lot of tired old rules of Agatha Christie copycats, and it's so refreshing. I found myself really caring about the characters and the setting, especially the main character, Lee. As a kid I read every Nancy Drew book I could get a hold of, but after a while they all seemed the same. Lee, is how I imagine Nancy Drew would be in real life, a fallible middle aged woman, who is both ordinary and extraordinary, who smokes weed, and struggles with her marriage, while contemplating another man. Let's face it, Nancy Drew was murder mystery barbie, the vapid cheerleader who married the high school quarter back and peaked before 23. Lee is heartbreakingly real, the murder feels real, and you finding yourself hoping that none of the suspects are actually the culprit. This book reminded me of why I used to love mysteries, because they are supposed to take you on vacation, introduce you to a cast of interesting characters and lead you on a trail of suspense and adventure.I can't wait for the next book!

Not your typical murder mystery.....I loved the evolution of the character and the internal conflict and dilema the character Lee Harding went through. I definately can relate to the storyline of growing up in a big city and coming back as an adult and seeing that place you've held so many fond memories of change and transform into something very different than your memories remind you of. I can see the character spanning into other stories and adventures in the coming series and very much look forward to checking them out. Look forward to more exciting material from Mrs. Beth Everett.

By Amazon Customer This book was a great read by the fire over the holidays but will work nicely by the pool during Summer vacation too. A friend turned me on to it and asked what I thought. It's reminiscent of an acid-fueled Hunter S. Thompson vacation despite the lack of guns and LSD. The main character (Lee Harding) is middle-aged and on the precipice of walking away from an unexciting marriage. She examines strangers with scrutiny while avoiding looking at her life with anything but bleary vision in a haze of Marijuana meets bourbon, in Miss Marple meets "Where'd You Go, Bernadette?" What's not to like about that!

I enjoyed the plot of "Besides Me" By Kel I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I enjoyed the plot of "Besides Me", it was sad but interesting. I don't really want to say too much about it, because I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.The quality of writing could use some improvement, and I really wish it was longer to allow for more development of the characters and story. I think it would be a much more enjoyable read if there were more to it.

I grabbed it because I am hooked on the narrator, Melanie Fraser. Her voice is like honey dripped over lilacs. I thought the story was okay. It told a wonderful themed romance set in South Africa. I do think that readers (and listeners) of a good romantic adventure will be hooked and hauled in by this story. It is vivid and descriptive and really pulls you into the landscape and setting. I can't vault the storyteller just because the tale is not in my genre of interest. There is a real talent here.

Stunning description of South African terrain as the backdrop to a romance in a war zone By Shiraz The author's stunning description of the South African landscape and the historical background of the Boers and the English makes this a very enjoyable romance story. We get a glimpse of Cecil Rhodes and the terrible circumstances suffered at the hands of the English............There needs to be a sequel - it certainly kept me wanting more.

By Susan Burkhardt In my review of Barry's first book "Justice Beyond Law," I stated " it clasps you into the fold and doesn't let go. As I read this book, I felt I was on the journey with Jack Brandon and two ex-CIA women operatives on a dangerous mission outside the law to hunt down al-Qaeda terrorist cells in the U.S., New Delhi and Kathmandu. I became hooked on Barry's books and couldn't wait for his next one to be published, there was always a message within the story, which I felt we all could learn something from. Now in Barry's newest book, "Blood Justice," as we follow Jack Brandon on his newest assignment to battle the Jihadists in America, the message being sent, is that we have become too quick to ignore corruption and law breaking in the federal government because it would embarrass the leaders and not be politically correct. A must read.

Spot on again By Amazon Customer I read Barry's Blood Justice during the period of the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, California, and Paris, France It is enough to wrap ice around your heart to see how similar the book plot and real life radical Islamist terrorism have become. What is worse is the fact that the current administration intentionally and consistently puts the nation's security second to a political agenda that will destroy the country through ineptitude aided and abetted by a media and press that ignore the obvious, radical Islam is at war with us. Sadly, we do not have a real life Jack Brandon to save us...
