Yup, ANOTHER 5 star review By Ruki the Drunken Master Ok, here's another 5 star review.Yeah, I can see if those reading this right now aren't a tad bit suspicious. I get it. I was.I saw this listed on Amazon, noted that it was only a 70 or so page novella, saw the price the author was charging and thought "this guy has some real balls...he should be charging more like 99 cents, really..."Yep, that is exactly what I thought at the time. Then i saw the 5 star reviews and cynically thought "Rigged Strawman Reviews!". Seriously. Pretty much what most of you are thinking right now, I bet.But I bought it. And the reason why is that over the past year I have seriously been considering more and more about making an attempt at writing and publishing my own sci fi novel. I mean, I've been reading a lot of these self-published books for the past 5 years or so and thinking, "hell, even I can do better than this!". Of course, actually writing a good, entertaining story with complex characters is way tougher than it seems initially. So basically I bought this novella for research purposes. I was glad I did. Money well invested.First, it s a great story. Even if it is short it seems longer. I loved the world-building and the rules for it...particularly the way the ecology worked on the moon the protagonist is marooned on as well as the rules about AIs and their governance. Then the author kept the entertainment pace going non-stop...even when the protagonist is catching a few winks of sleep, crap is happenin'.Second, it was a perfect example of how I should write my first work, too. I plan on re-reading this over the next month and taking notes to that effect, then starting on...well, "something"...we'll see.So, *I* happened to have gotten a good twofer out of this. That is true and why I give 5 stars. If you are just interested in reading a good story, I do recommend you buy it. I know it is almost $3 bucks for a short story and if the author is reading this, I strongly recommend that the he reduce his price down to a more decent $1.99 just for the practical reason he'll get more sales volume.

Ward I don't normally leave reviews since I'm not that great of a reviewer, but had to leave one this time to beg for more. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this, but free is free, right? So, so wrong. This book reminded me of "Robinson Crusoe on Mars." Even though it was short-ish, the place and character(s) were beautifully described.***SPOILERS***: The main character, K, is seemingly a bit sleazy (for lack of a better word), but by the end is just achingly human. The other "character" is an AI called suit; I'm still not sure about him/her/it. Is the AI a friend or foe? That's damn good writing (in my opinion) when you can evoke emotions about a suit. As dangerous as it would be, I wanted to see Yowl on my own - to see the blue trees and the red planet rising and all the creatures described in their alien glory, even the Jelly God. I also want a pigball of my own.Now that I know where they ended up at the end of this story, I'll be needing more of K and Suit. I don't feel like it ended on a cliffhanger. but I want to know what happens next. Are there more creatures to learn about? How does the relationship between K and Suit evolve? Do they get off the planet? I'll be waiting patiently for the next story, Mr. Zyz.

Without spoiling anything all I can say is the author put forth many interesting concepts and fleshes out a strange and deadly alien world with even deadlier denizens I sat there gaping in awe from beginning to end. Would really love to see an animated version! Looking forward to other works by the author.
