A girl on modern Earth and a boy from another world are thrown into a fight for their lives, only to discover they may both be connected to events in the distant past more epic than either can imagine.

Welcome to the 5-book Star Angel pentalogy.

---

Book 2: Jess has been back on Earth only a few months but her hopes for a normal life can’t last. She desperately longs for that illusion to be real, wants it more than anything, but “normal” will never again be an option. Too much is at stake, too much has been exposed.

And there are others who want what she hides.

When the hammer falls she’s more prepared than she would ever have thought possible, but nothing can prepare her for what comes next. For what waits on Anitra is something beyond anything she could’ve imagined. An epic reality that will change worlds.

And so, as she heads further down the rabbit hole, no longer able to deny her destiny, she’s forced to realize there’s only one possible outcome to the terrible convergence of events at which she’s arrived.

An outcome that isn’t even the end. For, to her growing despair, she realizes life beyond that outcome promises only to become more epic, not less.

Peace, for her, may never come.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. WOW !!! Funny, sad, exciting, and oh so sexy ! By Robin "Unlawful Seizure" by Baylee Rose....I give this book a 5 star rating. Her writing is outstanding, keeping me on the edge and I did not want to put the book down. Baylee's writing style is not something I read every day....This book is a dual POV, but she also uses an inner monologue that is so clearly written that we don't have to wonder whose thoughts they are.***Tessa is a paralegal that works for a state appointed defense attorney who is beyond caring about his clients.***Max is serving time in prison for murder. Today is yet another parole hearing for him after being turned down previously.***Today is one of many days that the attorney Tessa works for decides to take a few days off work for a weekend away with his wife. When he calls Tessa to tell her that he won't be into the office, she reminds him that he has a court date and he tells her to go in his place. When Tessa awoke this morning sick with a migraine she takes that as a warning to not go to work. She also reads her horoscope for the day that tells her not to leave her house. When her boss calls she has no choice but to go to the prison in his place, but when she gets outside she finds she has a flat tire and calls for service. She wonders how many more signs can there be to stay home....Tessa doesn't want to go but she knows Max's case better than anyone in the office because she is the one that prepares all of the paperwork for the court and she doesn't want to let Max down, even though she has never personally met him.Tessa makes it to the prison early and asks to meet Max before the hearing. The prison guard tells her to wait a moment and he returns with Max. When Max and Tessa meet, he notices right away how beautiful she is and refuses to let her help him. He tells her to leave that she is only a paralegal and can't help him but she refuses because she strongly believes that she can get him paroled today. She gets a little snarky with him and tries to tell him that she can help but he insists that she leave. All of a sudden prison bells and sirens go off and the one and only guard in the room with them leaves Tessa and Max alone while he goes to see what is happening....and it turns out there is a prison break. Max was aware that the break was going to happen and he is also well aware of the dangerous convicts that are going to be involved. Max wants to keep Tessa safe from the other prisoners... so he takes her hostage and they are now on the run....******This book always keeps the reader wondering what will happen next and there are so many twists and turns that it is difficult to put the book down. Be prepared to laugh and cry as this book has all the feels. " Unlawful Seizure " is a standalone but there will be a book #2. I urge you to read this book by author Baylee Rose as you not be disappointed.

Pulp Adventures continues its quarterly journey across the landscape of pulp fiction. This issue travels from the South Seas to London back alleys, and stops in smoky firehouses in the Windy City! The highlight of this issue is “The Daughter of Huang Chow” by Sax Rohmer, a classic thriller by the creator of Fu Manchu! When Inspector Kerry investigates murder and opium smuggling, he stumbles across a woman whose feminine charms render him powerless—but he doesn’t seem to mind! Also in this issue: A show business detective finds himself working for an actor who loses track of his women in “Road Show” by Roger Torrey; “A Pinch of Powder” by Karl Detzer chronicles the plight of heroic firefighters who need rescuing from the new firehouse cook!; Richard A. Lupoff continues the exploits of Splash Shanahan, in “Tangaroa’s Eye,” as he transports a lovely passenger to a secret paradise; In a Railroad Stories’ short by Dave Martin, “Boxcar Mary” is a tomboy who rides the rails to trouble; And a German spy master meets his equal in Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson’s “Treason For Glory.” In the nonfiction category, Pulp Adventures #19 features “Searching for a Hero: Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson” by Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson. The pulp author turned comic book publisher, who paved the way to success for Superman, also lived the adventures he wrote. “Liner notes” on authors Karl Detzer (by Detzer, himself) and Sax Rohmer (by William Patrick Maynard) accompany their stories. This issue sports a slam-bang action cover by Norman A. Saunders, courtesy of the illustrator’s estate, and a dramatic “Daughter of Huang-Chow” back-cover by John A. Coughlin.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Next issue of this pulp fanzine continues to be great! By Michael R. Brown Pulp Adventures #19 (Fall 2015) is the fifth issue of the new version from Bold Venture Press. We get a collection of pulp fiction, and some new stuff, all under a Norman Saunders crime cover. As I've noted in reviews of previous issues, we don't have any similar series of pulp reprints out there now, and this is a great series. The big selling point of this issue is a Sax Rohmer thriller. Not one of his Fu Manchu stories, but a similar work, "The Daughter of Huang Chow." This one stars Inspector "Red" Kerry, and is part of a short series of crime stories set in Chinatown, based on a real person! Rohmer's Red Kerry series has two novels (Dope and Yellow Shadows), and a couple of short stories. In this one, while investigating murder and opium smuggling, Kerry comes across a woman whose feminine charms render him powerless to resist! We also get a mixture of different pulp reprints. A couple are used to launch some new collections of stories from Bold Venture. Many overlook the wide range of genres that ran in the pulps, so this issue we get a firefighter story, "A Pinch of Powder" by Karl Detzer (from Short Stories) and a railroad story by Dave Martin (that appeared in Railroad Story magazine). We get a much longer detective story, "Road Show," about a show business detective by Roger Torrey (from Private Detective Stories). The one new piece is another Splash Shanahan story by Richard A. Lupoff. And finally we get an interesting pairing. We get a pulp story by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson: "Treason for Glory," from War Stories, about an American officer unmasking a German spy in WWI. And with it a non-fiction article, "Searching for a Hero: Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson" by Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson. In this article, we get a great introduction to this overlooked pulp author, later comic book publisher, and how he lived the adventures he wrote.Another great issue, and the next one is already out. Look forward to getting and reviewing it soon.

John Wyeth was a successful man. At nineteen, he graduated at the top of his class at a respected university. By the age of twenty-two, he had survived three brutal years of warfare, serving as commanding officer for a behind-the-lines reconnaissance platoon. Now at thirty-one, he was the Senior Project Leader for the super secret think tank NATech, and he was very good at what he did. Everyone knew and no one doubted that within a few years he would be the Director. And then he was killed. Sort of. When John "woke up", things were different. Instead of his excellent physical condition, he was caught in a Healer’s Sleep that robbed him of all voluntary movement and all his senses except hearing. Instead of being a respected leader in an organization for good, he was the dependent refugee of an outlawed resistance, one the world government wanted to destroy. Instead of being in the early 21st Century, he was now in the late 27th Century. And instead of being a thirty-one year old man...

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good idea, well executed. By Chris W. Story centers around a guy that was in the middle of working on something when he died. He wakes up in the body of a young girl and learns that he is in the future where scientists can cure people of an issue that is central to the book. Lets say you are reincarnated into many different forms and things. The scientists that revive people dont like this. The bring people back to their original mind and help them live normal lives. This girl is important because she was at the beginning of the whole mess the world is in.Anyway, good story, good writing. All in all a worthy effort and beginning of the series.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great Series!!! By Abby For John Wyeth, life as he knew it was never going to be the same. A man of some prestige in his time, he was arguably the best mind of the early twenty-first century. Working for a secret organization that made the illogical probabable, John was well on his way to making the breakthrough of the millenium by creating genetically engineered humans that could live and breath underwater in the oceans as well as on land. But all that tragically went wrong and he was electrocuted, accidentally!!!??? by the defense systems at his work. That was the last thing John remembered before he awoke in the later part of the twenty-seventh century. He no longer had his power, he no longer had his prestige, he no longer was thirty one years old, and he was no longer a man.Now the new life of John is underway as a fourteen year old girl. With the help of his knowledge, and his friends, Susan Lendler, Sarah Grominski, Lt. Sanchez, and Dr. Barrett, John will learn about his new world, the dark secrets it contains, and the power to fix all that has gone wrong to put a power mad entity in complete control of the government. This is just the first work of Peter Prellwitz, whose novels and stories are all intertwined. From Horizons to The Power of Magic all his books revolve around a very imaginative and creative Universe where the flaws of mankind are magnified hoping to show us the flaws in ourselves. If You like this book read the rest, I have.
