Review Very much enjoyed this story. I was constantly intrigued, the plot was well thought out and I loved the shock elements throughout the book. It was a fast pacing novel requiring 100% concentration, in fear I might miss or miss understand a moment or event. I thought the main characters were fantastic with the supporting characters adding intrigue,some necessary humor and attitude.I would be delighted if there was a second or even series from it as it would continue with the supporting characters lives. If you enjoy military novels with clean romance this is a must read. Well written romance without the cheap smut but still providing a love story, blushing moments without being embarrassed to be seen reading it in public. Well done! - S.R. Amazon.uk

About the Author Holly Copella has been writing since the age of twelve when her frustration at a book’s poor plot drove her to author her own story. Over the last decade, she’s written a number of screenplays, some of which she’s now adapting into novels. Her fascination with zombies and other darker material lends an edge to her writing, which tends to lean toward horror. As a fan of Agatha Christie, she appreciates the craft of a good plot and the importance of creating significant characters. Hailing from Pennsylvania, Copella lives in the Endless Mountains on a farm with her rescue horses and other animals. Fantastic suspense, loads of action and a few chuckles too. Jackie has three martial arts belts and there's several fight scenes that lures the reader in with excitement. Excellent story and characters. Would love to see a second book :)

I couldn't stop reading it.Jackie is the pilot daughter of a Lieutenant Commander Navy Seal. He has certainly raised her right. She knows how to defend herself, said with a laugh. She witnesses a couple of murders ordered by the Governor.Holden Falcone is the FBI agent sent to question her and place her in Witness Protection under the watchful eye of the U.S. Marshals. She escapes and he follows.Which will catch her? Holden or the bad guys?You can probably guess, but it is well worth the read. So much fun!!

Holly had me from the first page to the last. It is not a read for women – too much testosterone. The main character of the story, a woman, holds her own against bad guys, good guys, and crazy guys. Holly uses the phrase, Houdini with a black belt to describe the heroine which was so fitting to her character.Jackie Remus, the daughter of a deceased Navy SEAL, witnesses two murders committed by the Governor and his henchmen. U.S. Marshalls and the FBI come to her aid, putting her in the Witness Protection Program while they try to locate the Governor and bring him to justice. But the Governor and his men make every attempt to prevent her from testifying, and in the process, eliminate all but one protector, an Agent named Holden. Doubting the government’s ability to keep her safe, she seeks help from members of her deceased father’s SEAL team, and is able to vanish. Pursued by both good guys and bad guys, she eludes them, taking them all on the rides of their life. Every page will keep you on the edge of your seat, and you won’t see the ending coming. The few flaws I came across did not detract from the storyline, and having read this author before, I believe it is her best writing to date.Being retired military, with past associations with Army Special Forces types, I got the military significance and mentality of the SEALs. Although an over-the-top portrayal of their capabilities, Holly doses out snippets of why we can lay our heads on the pillow at night and know that real such warriors exist and take care of the bad guys. This is a ‘must read’ for those that can’t get enough action-packed stories, and should be displayed on the table in every man-cave. The only other thing I can add to this review is, Alpha Mike Foxtrot.

It's easy to connect to the main character and the author did an incredible job describing the world the story takes place in. In the beginning I had a difficult time keeping track of the roles of some of the characters, but as I continued reading it all became more clear. I would recommend this to both young and old readers. It's full of suspense and mystery. I didn't want the story to end and I hope the next series comes out soon. It'll grab your attention quick and you won't set it down till you finish it.

The Boy from Tenn is a great example of a window into a constructed world that I am eager to learn more about. The lore is unique and begs for more explanation in further chronicles (in a good way). If you want to read a fantasy short story, this is a good way to go!

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Interesting Blend of Sci-Fi and Elements of the Bible. Shades of Dan Brown. By SoCal Reader I finished Sidererus Nuncius in one sitting. Howard's writing style is quick and crisp so it was a very quick read. I was immediately sucked in by the lead character, Quentin. A powerful alien is sent to Earth to learn why the planet is in trouble. He doubts the validity of his mission and to make matters worse, he begins to have visions of a destroyed world that may or may not be the very world he is investigating. Along the way, Quentin (against orders) becomes romantically involved with an Earth woman and emotionally attached to her son. Normally I would argue this would bog down a story like this, but I as things progressed, I see how essential those two are. If I have a complaint about the story, is that there was not enough of Rex Talion and the Degans.. All indications are that Talion is an Anti-Christ figure with designs of sending the world to destruction. What are his motivations for doing this? The Degans are demonic beings from the cosmos hiding in society and in line with Talion. Why have they chosen Earth as their main playground? How did Rex Talion and the Degans find each other?These are minor quibbles to be sure. I know this is a series so more will be revealed.Now back to the positives: The complex aspect of Quentin. This is one conflicted soul. He doubts the cause he fights for and the masters he serves. The love the way Howard mixes in the some of the most important stories of the bible (i.e. the Flood, Moses, Revelations, etc.) and puts science fiction twist on them. This is fresh and exciting and it gives us an alternative to the things we have been taught similar to the Di Vinci Code. Watch out Sunday schoolteachers!The stage is set for some amazing future events. Who is Rex Talion? Will the events of Armageddon continue to play out as hinted? Will Earth survive the great war? There's more to Quentin than meets the eye. What are his secrets?Overall Sidererus Nuncius is an enjoyable, fascinating read and I look forward to the next book. Mr. Howard, please do not disappoint me!

I love it for it's original variant and outer-worldly take on the scriptures of Revelations. I also feel it has deeper hidden messages when it comes to monsters and faith. This is surely a book anyone can enjoy!

In "Sidereus Nuncius" he draws the reader in with very likable characters Regina and Dante. He keeps your attention by adding layers to the story. What starts as a fairly light story turns into a twisted plot involving several characters and delving into the heart of the reader on many levels.The story has multiple elements including suspense, action, mild violence, a love story, and sci-fi/fantasy aspects as well. I found myself cheering for Regina as she begins a relationship with a mysterious character named Quentin. Quentin is a complex individual and a couple of his "sides" are revealed as you read your way through the book.Then there is Rex Talion....there is more to him than meets the eye. Howard teases the reader and leaves us wondering about Talion.This is a very enjoyable read. At times I found myself devouring the book, impatiently wanting to get to the next chapter. Howard's writing style is rich with description and provides wonderfully visual images for the reader. His words flow effortlessly, and he builds suspense, making the book a classic page-turner.This is the first in a four-part series and I anxiously await the next installment. If the second is as good as the first, which I suspect it will be, we will likely have the next super author!

About the Author Nobel prize-winning writer Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay, India, but returned with his parents to England at the age of five. Influenced by experiences in both India and England, Kipling s stories celebrate British imperialism and the experience of the British soldier in India. Amongst Kipling s best-known works are The Jungle Book, Just So Stories, and the poems Mandalay and Gunga Din. Kipling was the first English-language writer to receive the Nobel prize for literature (1907) and was amongst the youngest to receive the award. Kipling died in 1936 and is interred in Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey.

The stories are a wonderful length for read alouds. The Jungle Book is, of course, a classic and not in need of a review; however, if your only exposure to the Jungle Book is Disney, please give this a try. I wanted to commend Sterling Publishers on making a quality, affordable edition of this and other classics. The paper quality was nice, not thin or translucent. The font is also pleasant--not to small or cramped. I know this may seem faint praise, but so many classics collections are very poorly executed. The price is also very agreeable--only slightly more than a paperback.

219 of 236 people found the following review helpful. The Real Thing By Rockdoc My favorite books from childhood have always been Milne's "The World of Pooh" and Kipling's "The Jungle Book". Over the years I have purchased many copies of each as presents. Both can be difficult to find in versions unaltered from the original. I have found this to be particularly true in the case of The Jungle Book. Some folks just don't seem to get that Kipling had a pretty good handle on what he was doing. One does not tamper with a Masterpiece.This version is the real thing. It reads word for word the same as the tattered, 40-year-old copy that I first read when I was eight years old. Add illustrations by Robert Ingpen that faithfully capture the emotion of the story and you have a real winner. For those who appreciate The Jungle Book as it was BEFORE it was adulterated by Mr. Disney and friends, this is a very worthy effort.

We have the Disney books and movies at home but since he is an avid reader and I love Rudyard Kipling I thought it was time to find him the real deal and this book is it. I like everything about it, the font type, the illustrations, and the writing is, well... Rudyard Kipling. Beautiful, rich, provocative language that unleashes a child's imagination. My son and I devoured it in a few nights and after we were done it led to a really deep discussion on the differences with the Disney's version. It was a welcomed reminder that we can understimate both our children's capacity to digest the classics and their appeal to them.

Jim started out as a friend but quickly became everything she could have hoped for, or so she thought. As fate may have it, it seems that there might be more to Jim than what meets the eye. Isabelle, yet again finds herself in far over her head. I got the audible version, and decided to give it a try. Yep, it was out of my comfort zone, but I went for it. So glad I did! The story is told in first person, by Isabelle. It recounts her life, her feelings, and the events that occurred....some good, but more not so good. I loved how she always ended the writing in her diary (except the one time). This story really tugged at my heartstrings, especially at the end. It takes a great writer to be able to do that! I still think the title should be shorter (maybe "Isabelle's Diaries"), and have a picture of a young girl on the front. Just my suggestions, though.

I enjoyed the story and narration. I look forward to hearing more from this author. I will definitely look for books both in print and audio. Great job!!I received a copy of this book to review. It weaves the ancient belief in Windigo and the more modern belief in UFO's and aliens together in the creation of a suspense filled page turner. The author appears to be knowledgeable on the technical aspects of the story. I recommend it.....a quick read well worth your time!
