By Denise Keef The problem I have found with Ann Charles' books is that once I start reading them, I can't put them down and her newest book "Look What The Wind Blew In" from a brand new series entitled A Dig Site Mystery was no exception!This story centers around an ancient burial ground of the Mayan people, an archeologist named Angelica Garcia, her father Juan Garcia who is also an archeologist and one handsome photojournalist Clint Parker who happens to be the brother of Violet Parker from The Deadwood Humorous Mystery series by Ms Charles. There is also a host of other characters that some you will come to love and one that you will not like...at all! But all these characters...written so vividly that you will picture them in your mind all lend so much to this story as it evolves. Every scene is described in detail that you will see the ancient ruins...the deep dark jungle and you will smell the deliciously described meals prepared by Maria the digs chief cook.Once the mystery unfolds you will be drawn into the world of discovery...treachery...romance and friendship among all of these magnificent characters who all come together to help solve the ancient secrets that began so very long ago.If you aren't a fan of Ann's yet...I guarantee you will be after reading this story which I definitely recommend and also her two other series The Deadwood Humorous Mysteries and The Jackrabbit Junction Mysteries. All of which will give you hours of entertainment and enjoyment and leaving you wanting and waiting for the next book to come out!Kudos Ann on once again writing such a wonderfully...entertaining story!

As a romance, it follows the standard formula: boy meets girl ... boy and girl immediately begin lusting after each other ... boy and girl resist temptation for as long as possible (a full week!) and then have amazing sex ....I didn't buy this as a romance, though. I'm more into mysteries, and I thought this looked promising. It was okay, but not great. The mystery was fairly detailed but easy to figure out. Nothing out of the ordinary.One thing really bothered me a lot. The photojournalist (boy) was visiting the archeologist's (girl) dig site under false pretenses. He claimed to be there to research and write an article, when he really wanted to investigate the 20 year old disappearance of a family friend. He spent more than three quarters of the book furtively hiding his true reason for being there. Why? I can't think of a single logical reason for the secrecy. It's not as though he suspected any of the current crew of having been involved. Girl and her father (the archeologists) had never even met the victim, having first come to the site ten years after the disappearance. Even more ridiculous, when girl and father realize boy is interested in the man who disappeared, they decide they need to prevent boy from learning anything about him. Again, why? It's not as though they actually knew anything or cared. The whole deception was so ... contrived.Again, as a romance, this was fairly standard fare. It disappointed me, though.

By John Kurtze "Look What the Wind Blew In" is the first book in Ann Charles' new Dig Site Mystery series. Her readers enjoy a great plot and equally great characters. Charles gives her readers a new group of characters and plot inviting to join Dr. Angelica Garcia's Architectural dig, regardless of location.Quint Parker, Violet Parker's brother, is the male protagonist of Charles' first book of the series. Charles informs her readers of Parker's history including his multiple reasons for being at the dig site. Readers get to see what going on and know what he is thinking as they are inside Parker's head. His agenda includes helping his childhood friend Jeff Hughes and his mother find answers to questions they have about Dr. Henry Hughes' disappearance. As the plot picks up its pace, Charles adds more information about Quint's role and enhances what readers are seeing from Quint's perspective. Readers feel and see why there is a change of direction of the storyline.The female protagonist is Dr. Angelica Garcia, the lead archeologist for the dig. Readers are given details of her back story as well as information about her ex-husband Dr. Jared Steel. As Charles is continually enhancing Angelica's character, readers are seeing events through her eyes and learn how Quint see AngelicaThere are support characters helping Quint and Angelica maintain enhancement of the storyline keeping readers aware of what is going on as the plot changes directions or new problems develop causing problems for the protagonists. In addition to working to maintain a schedule, Angelica and her father are dealing with strange events or occurrences being blamed on a curse. Angelica doesn't believe in curses or coincidences as each new accident causes members of her crew to leave.Jared Steel is the main antagonist as he makes an appearance at the dig site flexing his muscle and trying to make things difficult for everyone. He dislike of Quint Parker is apparent as he tries to force Angelica to remove him from the site. Steel's motives for disrupting the work at the site and his dislike of Parker will be able to welcome the characterThis new series is a unique combination of all of the humor and drama Charles has given her readers in her other series. "Look What the Wind Blew In" involves readers in the fast moving ever changing plot, introducing them to a cast of unique characters. Each of the characters is well defined and believable. Charles helps readers understand their role in the entire story. The action starts on page one and continues to keep readers interest until reaching the surprising ending. "Look What the Wind Blew In" is a must read and I am happy to give it a 5 star ranking.

*Second Edition While one archeologist has escaped the small island of vengeful tribesmen, a leviathan too has escaped the island . . . the deadliest prehistoric sea creature ever known: pliosaurus, powerful and unstoppable in its purpose. Just three days since John Paxton narrowly escapes “island hell,” he returns to South Africa to face the creature’s bloody swath of destruction. Assisted by savvy pilot Kate, John scours the ocean waters, obsessed with ending the reign of terror he believes he has unleashed by taunting the island’s status quo. But the attacks are forming a pattern—a chilling parallel with a prophecy foretold by the island’s tribal elders. All the while, John is unaware that he has been followed by tribal elder Kota, who will stop at nothing to see the bloody prophecy fulfilled. Now, both hunter and prey, John is hot on the trail of the most lethal set of jaws in history. But when a plan that should have killed the leviathan fails, John faces the ultimate question. Is he battling a mortal creature or, as the villagers prophesied, something more than flesh and bone . . . an avenging spirit spawned from the abyss . . . a vengeance from the deep?

By Pappi Are you still hanging in suspense from Russ Elliott's first book about John Paxton's dedication to find and destroy this prehistoric reptile from the deep? This book follows John in his pursuit to save lives and destroy the pliosaur who has ravaged the coasts of south Africa. Russ Elliott has done an amazing job of bringing this creature back to life in the second of his two-part series.

By BETTY K. a great continuation from book 1 - just glad I bought them together, because if I had to wait for book 2 after 1 to find out what happenedwould have been ticked off!. Author has a "touch" when interacting man & beast!! Enjoyed the book a lot!

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Epic! By Didi Love how the book drops you right in the middle of the action right where book 1 left off. From there, it's a non-stop thrill ride that culminates in one of the most epic endings I ever read in a novel or seen on film. Exceptionally powerful ending. Also enjoyed how the creature got into the main character's head, all-the-while asking the reader if John was truly losing his mind or if the creature was something more than flesh and bone as the tribal elders prophesied in book 1. This was one scary thrill ride that made my heart pound. Hope Elliott writes a third installment.

Golden, by Kathryn Robson

Review - If you like the Maze Runner and Hunger Games, but wished they had a few Vampires, Demons and a tad more heartache, this is the book for you! Louise on Goodreads.-I couldn't put it down! Robson came up with some clever and enchanting ideas in Golden. Some I wasn't expecting at all. The main character was relatable and well developed. Fast paced and engaging. Great Book. Nicale May - Author.Full Reviews for GOLDEN by Kathryn RobsonI was very impressed with how simply and effortlessly Kathryn Robson can tell this addicting, multi-layered story with well-developed world building and great characters and still manage to make vamps/demons fresh! A less talented author would probably over-write or over-dramatize to the point of being totally unbelievable. But even with the fantastical storyline we are all in, hooked on every scene, as the world building always follows its rules which is so important in books like this. At first it took me some time to acclimate and get the feel of the characters and their backstory... was confused on a few things, but stuck with it and it all became clear. A very well written and intoxicating read all through to the end. Can't wait to read more in this series and see what is in store for our "Golden" one next!! (5 stars) Nicola Flood-Barnes & Noble; I like how even though this novels is about vampires, which is a topic that seems to have been covered from almost every conceivable angle, the story never becomes predictable or feels cliché, and there are some nice plot twists I didn't see coming, especially at the end. The characters were so well developed and fleshed out I feel like I knew them personally, and for such a 'paranormal' themed book, it felt strangely believable... like more 'real' than most fantasy/paranormals, if this makes sense. The pacing was good, bu there were some editing errors (nothing major, just punctuation here and there--but I notice these things). An emotionally seductive and satisfying escape that I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great paranormal novel with a unique take on the vampire/demon myth. Kathryn Robson did a terrific job making this story feel like something we haven't read a million times, which is pretty impressive. Ready for more in this series! Recommend. (4 stars) Sam Ryan--Goodreads; "Golden" by Kathryn Robson was one of the most unexpectedly awesome books I've read in a looong time. To be totally honest, at first I wasn't sure I'd like it because I had a hard time figuring out what it was about from the description, and I've been a bit burned out on paranormal lately (*they are all starting to feel the same). But I was really impressed with the high quality writing in the opening sample, and thought I'd take a chance. Well, I'm so glad I did! Much to my surprise it was so unique and original, it really was unlike anything I'd read, and in a good way!! I loved the fresh approach on vampire lore, and there were so many amazing characters (Amy, Daniel, Andras and Ariane are great)) It had so many interesting plot twists and once I got into the book it was impossible to put down, and once I finished I immediately looked for the next one, hoping the storyline continued! "Golden" is a wonderful book for reading on those cold winter nights--A fantastical, yet believable storyline that leaves you wanting more. Probably best suited for adults only, even though it is upper YA/ NA. (4-5 stars) Layla Messing-Barnes & Noble;"Golden" by Kathryn Robson was such a great find! I'm so happy I discovered this author, and I love how long of an ebook it is!! I like that I can really lose myself in the story and with the fascinating characters. Robson's writing is very descriptive and I felt like I was really inside this unique world the author created. I liked that it made me think outside the box and wasn't just another formulaic vampire story. This was really original, I thought, but at the same time comfortingly familiar. My only beef was that it felt like it took too long to get going (even though there is good action at the beginning), for there to be the tension needed to really hook us in to having to keep reading. At times I thought some of Amy's inner narrative went on a bit too long (too much 'telling') and there were some minor editing things I noticed. But despite that I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next book from Kathryn Robson soon. Definitely recommend for fans of YA paranormal & fantasy. (4 stars) Laura Clarke-Barnes & Noble; "Golden" by Kathryn Robson is a really good read with an interesting concept and some of the best narrative and prose I've come across in a long while..... And just when I thought I was done with vampires forever and had read every possible angle they could take. Make no mistake, there are plenty of subplots happening here, At times I almost felt like it was too much, although the author describes it very well, and I know it's instrumental to the overall storyline and with what is happening with the main characters. It's just sometimes seemed like overkill when I would've preferred to maybe see a deeper emotional relationship build between the characters instead. This is a great combination of a character driven literary novel as well as an action-packed one, and there is great energy that whisks us along. The thing that struck me the most was just how genuine and authentic it all came across... most of the time when reading fantasy/paranormal you really feel that you are reading something completely made up. But here it feels almost true-to life. In a frighteningly good way. Curious to see if there will be more books like this and where they will go. The ending seems to leave room open for more, but I don't really see any mention. (4 stars). Jhonni Parker--Goodreads; "GOLDEN" is the first book I've read from this author, but it came highly recommended from a person whose opinion I trust. Not only was I not disappointed, I was even more impressed with it than I'd expected to be! I loved Kathryn Robson's storytelling abilities and style of writing--the distinctive 'voice'. It is so simple and easy to read, but each sentence and page packs so much emotion and imagery that you really get a bang for your buck. "Golden" is an intoxicating work of creativity, passion, sensuality, and imagination. It stretches the boundaries for this type of fiction in new ways that really impressed me. I read paranormal and fantasy all the time, (and a lot of vamp fiction) but this one stood out to me as being exceptionally well written and feeling fresh and original. I finished it in three days which is practically a record for me because I'm a slow reader with not much time and this is a pretty long book. But I couldn't put it down! I was happy with the ending, but I really wish there were more! Recommend for older readers and fans of YA and NA paranormal. (5 stars) Megan King--Goodreads; I do read a lot of books by lesser known authors (I like to give them a chance and maybe discover new talent). But inevitably I'm left disappointed more often than not. But even if Ms. Robson's novel, "Golden" wasn't perfect, it delivered an entertaining ride with complex ideas that pulls you in and makes you emotionally invested whether you want to or not. I enjoyed the author's energetic and passionate writing, but also the characters themselves (even the bad ones) and there are plenty! For the most part the pacing was good, I did think there was too much telling backstory in the beginning with Amy and Andras that slowed it down a bit after the exciting opener, and at times the narrative dragged a bit. But I liked that it was unpredictable and not completely cliché, and I enjoyed it all the way through and thought it was a great New Adult fantasy-romance. (4 stars) Darlene Cupp-Barnes & Noble; I read tons of paranormal novels, so I already had the bar set pretty high in my mind for them. I am so happy that I wasn't at all disappointed with "Golden"! I think I even liked this one a bit more than normal--- I enjoyed the real world/fantasy world blend but still had that strong magical/paranormal element. I loved how I was able to totally lose myself in this unique and imaginative world that is so much fun! Love picturing how the characters (especially Amy) look, and I could totally see this being a movie or something. Hope the series continues! Recommend for fans of NA fantasy and paranormal romance. (4-5 stars) Gillian Hancock--Goodreads"Golden" by Kathryn Robson takes us on a magical and dangerous and sexy journey. The beginning starts innocently enough, but the way the story unfolds and how everything is connected pulls you in and takes you to another world. I have to say I really liked reading this and like the author's writing style a lot. I really felt like I was there in Amy's head (for better or worse) and even though there are some disturbing elements (one scene in particular should have a trigger warning), and the scenes are pretty fantastical, there is a level of believability there that makes reading these books a magical, rewarding, almost surreal experience. I'm happy to have discovered this author and will recommend them to fans of YA fiction, romance, fantasy, and paranormal. (4 stars) Brenda Maxwell--Goodreads; As much as I enjoyed this book, "Golden" I think I also felt like it was a little confusing at times, and the pacing was too erratic. I'm not a fan of all the internal thoughts, (Amy's) as for me that is far too much 'telling' when it should be 'showing'.... It's not as bad as some books I've seen, but I find it tiresome after a while. Also it could benefit from some light proofreading. But I really like the creative take on vampire lore and liked the setting. The writing and the plot is amazing. I do hope that the story will continue as the "Golden" character is a great deal of fun to read about. (3-4 stars) Tabitha Parks-Indie Book Reviewers"Golden" was so unique and original, it really was unlike anything I'd read, and in a good way!! It had so many interesting plot twists and was sexy and dangerously addicting!! Once I got into the book it was impossible to put down, and once I finished I immediately looked for the next one (Where is it??) A must read for fans of paranormal, light romance and New Adult. (5 stars) Essie Harmon--Barnes & Noble;"Golden" is the first book I've read from this author Kathryn Robson, but I certainly hope it's not the last. I appreciate how after the enticing opener, Robson continues to come up with new and imaginative twists, and the action never slows down at all. Even when it does for a bit, it is usually to work on the Character development (Amy) and grant the reader deeper insight into her psyche. So many complex interweaving plotlines keep you guessing, and wow, Daniel is a sexy beast! Love the original myth Robson employs in her vampire/demon/monster lore and while I do wish some backstory could be narrowed down some, I loved reading this and Love Amy and Daniel and hope their story continues on! (4 stars) Darla Ortiz--Goodreads;

From the Inside Flap The day I died was the best day of my lifeIt took everything I hated and destroyed it, leaving faint memories behind.It took me down a road so twisted it disturbed the essence of my being, yet led me to my life, my love, my Daniel.If life is for the living, how can I walk among them?Am I here to protect or to maim and destroy?Have I become what I am because of what I was - has what I was capable of doing as a human opened up the gates into immortality? And if so, who rules eternity? If I give up my eternity for another's, will it take away the pain and guilt I feel crushing my heart from inside,or will it take me straight to hell?

That sucked me in from the first moment I saw it. Secondly, from the very first page, Robson's Golden had me wanting to read more. Lately I've had a bit of a thing against Vampire novels because, to be honest, none have impressed me and come up rather boring. But Golden turned that all around for me. I love the main character, Amy, and I can guarantee you this book has some twists and turns you won't be expecting!I gave Robson's Golden five stars. I loved her writing style. I loved the fast pace of this book. And the characters were well developed. I would read another book by Kathryn Robson any day!

This one has it all, the only one missing is a werewolf, but maybe there will be a second installment with them running amok? Demons, Vampires and a agonizing love interest. Fast paced and well written, loved every second and was reading till the early hours of the morning. Had me gripped from the first page and it did not slow down. Fantastic different spin on Vampirism I haven't seen before, which was very interesting. Definitely would recommend to anyone who liked books like Insurgent, The maze runner, or The Hunger Games

When her daughter dies in a tragic accident and the daughter’s husband’s second wife does the same, what is Eleanor Johnson to think? The police have ruled both cases accidents and closed them, but something doesn’t feel right. Is it possible to believe that two tragic deaths are mere coincidence, or was something more sinister at play? Who is Eleanor to call? Cat Flaherty. Murder Strikes Twice, the second book in the Catrina Flaherty Mysteries, is based on an actual case that is still developing. Catrina, who comes from a long tradition of police officers, joins the Port of Seattle Police Department. After leaving an abusive marriage, her ex-husband uses his position as a police sergeant to launch a campaign of sexual harassment to punish her. Catrina sues the Police Department and wins the largest class-action sexual harassment settlement in history. She takes the settlement and opens her own Private Investigation agency, dedicating her life to helping other women who have suffered like her. When Cat starts looking into the Barrett Case, something smells rotten. She and her team scour Seattle for clues as the pieces start falling into place, but can she make a case that the D.A. will take to court? Did Murder Strike Twice or will Brody Barrett get away with killing both of his wives? Catrina is known for administering vigilante justice. Will Brody finally have to pay for his sins? If you like Cat Flaherty, you have to read her first book, Mirror Image. Cat is also a major character in the Ted Higuera series of thrillers. It is innovative and keeps the reader wondering what will happen next as the story line twists and turns into unexpected but delightful reading. Based on a true event, Cat finds herself hired to find the truth in the deaths of two wives of a man who collected nearly $5,000,000 in insurance pay offs. As Cat delves deeper into the two deaths, it becomes more and more clear that these deaths were, in actuality, murders. Cat unravels enough to get the police involved again. The events unfold to a most unexpected conclusion. This is really a fast- paced and enjoyable book from a talented author. Just read for the story line, not for the accuracy of the actual accuracy in character development. The main character tends to change too much from an educated, refined lady to an almost "gutter-trash talking" female. This character needs more thought and consistency in her development.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. an action packed thriller with good pacing and a great twist at the end By Praanav R Lal I received a review copy of Murder Strikes Twice. One of the cleverest things Mr. Wallace has achieved is to keep his series chronologically accurate. The book picks up after bikini baristas, which is book 4 in the Ted Higuera Series. The narrative is skillful and the plot has a fantastic twist at the end. No mysteries to solve but the action is strong and you are in the driving seat as Catrina Flaherty solves the case. No fancy technology here besides illusions to Ted's sunglasses and no convenient physical security violations to bring things to a head. I was hoping for a boat chase but the twist at the end made up for that.

However, I was very surprised at how short it was. I checked it against the previous books of yours that I have read and found that the previous books were much longer. I would consider the latest one a Novella, and I don't buy Novellas.I found a number of typos, but it is very difficult to type read an electronic book. It is much easier to do it with a paper copy, where you can note the mistakes right on the copy. That being said, a couple I noted are as follows:In a meeting with Cat's people You say "Brody came in the first time before right the timber incident...." It should read right before.In Cat's confrontation with Barrett, she tried to step out of his way and bring smash the baton... It should be either bring or smash - not both.On the next page your say "Catrina dodged slammed the palm of his hand..." It should read dodged and slammed.As I said before it was an interesting and good read.Robert Parshall

Meet Greek God number one, Darryl Jennings. He’s a Petty Officer First Class with DEVGRU. Greek God number two, Nathan Brooks has retired from the Navy, but still works as an operative for the U.S. Department of State. And last, but certainly not least (the man’s serious eye candy), there’s Greek God number three and SEAL Team member Karl Patterson. The three rendezvous on the Greek Island of Lefkada; not for a mission, not for routine rest and relaxation, but for a wedding. CIA agent Olivia Simpson, former Air Force pilot Baylee Stiles and broadcast journalist, Jamie Phillips are also headed for this idyllic island on the Ionian Sea. One of these ladies is a bride-to-be. One suffers from a broken heart. And the other woman is about to be targeted by a band of pissed-off Muslim Alliance terrorists. (Reading the previous books in this series might heighten your enjoyment of Greek God, but sufficient background on each character is provided to make this a satisfying stand-alone read)

The exotic setting (the Island of Lefkada) speckled with Alpha males built like Greek gods By Frank Scozzari Fourth in the 'Navy SEALS of Valor' series, GREEK GOD is a stand-alone novel with all the action and romantic adventure one could expect. Sabrina Devonshire is masterful at weaving plot development with character development, while at the same time describing a faraway setting in a way that literally takes you there.Three Navy SEALS rendezvous on a Greek island for a wedding. The exotic setting (the Island of Lefkada) speckled with Alpha males built like Greek gods, add a couple beautiful females, you’ve got all the ingredients for romantic intrigue in paradise. But this is not just a love story between Navy SEALS, a CIA agent, and a journalist, it is also a thriller. Terrorists interrupt the party, targeting one of the women, which sets the SEALS into action.This is one of those books you pick up and read in one sitting—it takes you that quickly. I found myself lost in the story, and then it ended, and I was sad because I wanted more.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Perfect Literary Package! By JLC13 Greek God is book 4 in the Navy SEALs of Valor series, and the action starts in Greece. I ask you, who doesn't love a wedding? Especially one that is teaming with hot, alpha heroes and drop-dead sexy heroines. Only this ceremony is a little different as some uninvited, evil guests arrive and a kidnapping ensues. That's when things really heat up. As with the other three books in the series, this author's vivid descriptions of scenery and locale makes the reader feel as if they are living inside the story with the characters. The steamy love scenes will make you sweat and leave you breathless. If you're looking for a perfect literary package of intrigue, suspense, passion and romance, look no further than Greek God.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. If you like suspense, romance By Amazon Customer The Seals have arrived! Three hot men, three very different women, and one extremely romantic Greek Island, set the scene for an intense and highly erotic romance novel. But wait! This isn't just your typical romance. Terrorists, kidnappings, nerve-shattering tension, and non-stop action and adventure make this a fast-paced, and very enjoyable read.I jumped into this series late, but I HAVE to go back and read the first three books. Greek God by Sabrina Devonshire is one hot book. It is a stand alone novel despite being part of a series. If you like suspense, romance, and sexy Navy Seals than you'll love this book! Great job Ms. Devonshire!
