3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. not a fan By Brad I bought this book based on perfect 5 star reviews. I have no clue how this book has received such good reviews. This is the only genre of books I read and after reading about 20% I was too frustrated by the writing so I stopped reading it. The books I prefer are the ones that make you feel like you are there in person with the characters or feel like you really know the characters as if they are your friends. While reading this book I felt like it was rushed in describing everything and at one point I felt like I was watching a movie trying to cram in too much or was in a hurry to move things along. Would have much rather preferred the author to get more descriptive. Also, the main character, Zeb, has no personality and yet people still like him (because of course he is better than all humans in what he is capable of doing). This is now the only 2nd book out of hundreds I have read that I couldn't finish due to the writing style.

Although I was a beta reader for this book, I enjoyed it enough to purchase my copy as soon as it came out. This book is easily read as a stand alone but will make you want to buy the first two as soon as you can. I have enjoyed watching Ty Patterson grow as a writer. His Warrior series had taken an interesting premise, a small group of deniable operators who tackle off the books problems for the government, and given it a soul named Zeb. Like the others in the series, The Warrior Code starts out strong and just gets better. Others have voiced concerns at the number of characters in this book, but I think that each of the characters plays an essential part in the story line and keeps the suspense at a sustainable level throughout the book. I am not one to reveal plot details in my reviews, so I will only say that the setting for the book is idyllic, the action is non-stop and very realistic, the dialog is witty and entertaining, but most of all the ending was completely out of left field and leaves you anxious for him to complete the next book.

Mr. Patterson has created characters that any enthusiast of the this genre would simply love. In the Warrior Code, Ty has absolutely swung for the fences and hit another grand slam. The Zeb Carter character gets better with each novel as Ty peels away the layers of Carters' once tortured soul. We as readers get to see not only heroics within him but also his fallacies. He depends on the other Warriors far more he lets on and have the opportunity to witness his emotional evolution from book one, The Warrior.Keep up the good work Ty.
